Connectivity

Maximized connectivity

Vancis BV provides extended connectivity possibilities. The Vancis datacenter is one of the locations of the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX). Therefore, many national and international suppliers of connectivity and related services are located at Vancis.

Via AMS-IX, or one of the other exchanges present at Vancis BV, Telcos and ISPs can share their network facilities and bandwidth (peering facilities). Many parties are also connected via dedicated connections (so-called private peerings). Enterprises and organizations that are not a member of an exchange can make use of the services provided by parties that are connected to AMS-IX. The sheer number of suppliers at the datacenters result in very favorable and attractive conditions.

Vancis offers Internet related services, and herewith related knowledge and expertise to organizations that do not have this kind of know-how themselves, or want to utilize the High Performance knowledge of SARA in the field of networking.

SURFnet6

The Vancis datacenter is also one of the two core sites of the SURFnet6 network. Specific customers groups, such educational institutions and academic healthcare institutions, can directly connect to SURFnet6 and make use of the unique possibilities of this advanced hybrid network. For example, they can safely and redundantly connect their locations with the Vancis datacenters via an Optical Private Network.

NetherLight

Since 2002, the optical Internet Exchange NetherLight is located at SARA. NetherLight is an advanced open optical Internet exchange, which is realized by SURFnet within the framework of the GigaPort project. National and international research networks can connect to NetherLight. This optical technology will facilitate network services optimized for high-performance applications and Grid computing. SARA participates in SURFnet's NetherLight project in cooperation with the University of Amsterdam (UvA).
