Contract extension virtualization ICT infrastructure SUSA

Vancis BV and SUSA student agency have agreed on a 3-years contract for managing the SUSA’s ICT infrastructure. Until recently, these services were provided by SARA Computing and Networking. As of March 2010, SARA's subsidiary Vancis will provide this service.

Virtual Hosting

The management will be based on "Virtual hosting", a service based on VMware external cloud virtualization. Vancis will migrate the existing ICT infrastructure of SUSA, which is already virtualized in a dedicated environment, to the cloud environment of Vancis. The advantage of a shared environment is greater flexibility and scalability, enhanced functionality and complete focus on the pay-per-use model.

For this contract extension SUSA doesn’t need to buy any hardware. Vancis will provide the virtual machines, Storage on Demand, IP connectivity and backup. Vancis will also take care of the technical management of all SUSA applications, including Exchange and Navision.

Modular and upscalable

The service has been built fully modular and upscalable. If more processing power, memory, bandwidth or data storage is required, SUSA only needs to submit a service request. After three days, the additional capacity from the Vancis cloud will be added to the SUSA environment.
